Mrs. Adda Brandhorst

Funeral services for Mrs. Adda Brandhorst, 86, were held on Sunday, July 1, 1973, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist church. Rev. Don Griffin officiated with burial in the Manning Cemetery.

Adda Brandhorst, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Riggle) Miskimins was born on October 30, 1886, in Eden Township Carroll County. She attended rural schools near her home and graduated from the Gray high school.

In 1908, she was united in marriage to William John Brandhorst, after which they farmed near Glidden for two years. They then moved to a farm southeast of Manning and in 1918 they made their home in Manning. Her husband died on June 30, 1934, and Adda continued to make her home in Manning.

Adda was a member of the United Methodist church in Manning and of the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was active in the Women's Relief Corps and the Royal Neighbors. Two months ago, she entered the Manning Plaza and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll on Thursday, June 28, where she died early Friday morning, June 29, 1973, at the age of 86.

Besides her husband, Adda was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons and brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Brandhorst, and Ray Brandhorst, and one daughter, Mrs. Lee G. (Margaret) Tipton, all of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
