Adele Ruth, daughter of Alvin & Bernice (Frank) Gray, was born May 5, 1934, near Botna in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended rural school through the 8th grade and graduated from Manning High School in 1952. Adele was united in marriage with Raymond Christensen on October 24, 1952, and seven children were born to this union.

Adele and Raymond made their home in Littleton, Colorado, during Raymond’s Army service. The family moved to Iowa in 1955 and settled on the Christensen dairy farm south of Manning. In addition to being a busy farm wife and mother, Adele worked at Casey’s General Store, Burcliff Industries and Well’s Manufacturing. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Gray and later Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Through the years Adele enjoyed traveling with Raymond and taking vacations with her sisters. She was an active volunteer at the New Hope Bargain Shop, Manning Plaza Nursing Home, American Legion Auxiliary, Zion Lutheran Ladies Guild and R.S.V.P.

Due to complications from heart surgery, Adele died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. She was 76 years and 3 weeks of age.
