Adeline Johanna Jurgens

Funeral services for Adeline Johanna Jurgens, 95, were conducted by Rev. Howard Vrankin on August 27 at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church of Sibley. Interment was in Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Casket bearers Ed Dykstra, Randy Jurgens, Dennis Jurgens, Larry Riebling, Charles Goehle, Matthew Dykstra.

Adeline, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (David) Borkowski, was born October 18, 1898 at Audubon and died August 24, 1994 at Country View Manor in Sibley. She grew up on the family farm near Audubon and attended German Country School.

On May 28, 1919 she was united in marriage to Max Carl Jurgens in a country church near Audubon. Following their marriage Adeline and Max began forming near Audubon, until 1926 when they moved to Sibley. After they moved to Sibley, Max did carpentry work, while Adeline maintained their home and raised two children.

On February 20, 1969, Adeline's husband of 49 years died. After Max's death, she continued living in their home and stayed active as a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sibley. Over the years she belonged to Ladies Aid, served as church organist and as the choir director.

Adeline became the resident of Country View Manor in Sibley on October 14, 1987.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband. Max; her parents, four brothers, three sisters, four half-brothers and a half-sister.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Henry Dykstra of Sibley and her son and daughter-in-law Verdus and Ethel Jurgens of Sibley; five grandchildren: Carol Goehle of Luverne, MN; Ed Dykstra of Colorado Springs, CO; Randy Jurgens, Rhonda Jurgens and Dennis Jurgens, all of Sibley: her seven great-grandchildren: Rebecca Goehle; Matt and Libby Dykstra; Kristi, Amy; Matthew and Megan Jurgens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
