Agnes Dethlefs

Agnes died July 8, 1963. Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Dethlefs, 78, were held at Zion Lutheran Church here Wednesday, July 10, with the Rev. George B. Eschenbacher officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. William Whitcher, Harry Hinz, Herbert Groteluschen, Merlin Struve, Eugene B. Zerwas, and Kenneth Dethlefs were pallbearers.

A daughter of Christ and Teresa Matsen, she was born June 5, 1885, in Omaha, and followed the nursing profession. She worked in the Ida Grove Hospital before coming to Manning, where she was employed by Dr. Orren W. Wyatt.

In 1917, she married Fred Dethlefs and they made their home here. Mr. Dethlefs, who operated the Crystal Theater here for many years, died in 1957. Mrs. Dethlefs moved to the Baptist Home in Harlan in 1962. She died at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha Monday afternoon, July 8, after being hospitalized there for a week.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Mrs. R.M.) Johnson, Denison; two granddaughters; three brothers, Frank, Omaha; Harry, Des Moines, and Mark of Salmon Arms, British Columbia.

She was preceded by her husband and parents.

The Rev. Lenhard R. Middents officiated at the service. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dewey were vocalists, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Davis.
