Agnes Tena, daughter of Ferdinand and Mary (Nieland) Steinkamp, was born March 19, 1916, near Breda in Carroll County, Iowa. She attended St. Bernard's School in Breda.

On October 1, 1940, Aggie was united in marriage with Hilbert "Hib" Eischeid at St. Bernard's Church in Breda. Three children were born to this union. The family lived near Halbur for two years before moving to a farm north of Manning. Later they purchased a farm in that same area. They retired in 1973 and moved into Halbur for two years before moving to their home in Manning.

Aggie was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and an honorary member of Ladies Guild. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and the Manning Regional Healthcare Center Auxiliary. Aggie was always working - helping her husband with the farm work, sewing for her family and others, cooking, baking and volunteering. She was a 4-H Leader, judged sewing at the county fair, worked with Carroll County Extension and volunteered at New Hope Village. In addition, she baked and served cookies for CCD Summer School.

Her husband died suddenly and unexpectedly October 4, 1998. Aggie continued to live in their home and continued to do sewing for others, as well as keeping involved with her church. Aggie suffered a stroke on August 25, 2002, and was hospitalized in Carroll until the time of her death on Saturday, September 28, 2002, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents and all her siblings: Elizabeth Thobe, Mary Kohorst, Theresa Kramer, Fred Steinkamp, Walter Steinkamp, Anthony Steinkamp, Joe Steinkamp and Leonard Steinkamp.

Aggie is survived by her children Roger Eischeid and wife Diane of Manning; Diane and husband Virgil Tigges of Carroll; and Gary Eischeid and wife Marie of Manning; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many in-laws, other relatives and many friends.

Family Prayer

Father, we thank you for your love and for your many blessings, especially the precious gift of each other. Help us to show our gratitude by loving each other as you love us.

Make us understanding and patient with one another -- quick to admit our failings and ask forgiveness -- generous in sharing the joy and strength we can give each other.

Father give our family lively faith and the courage to share it with those around us. Direct us to the state in life you plan for each of us, and help us to use your gifts to serve you.

We trust our family to your fatherly care. Preserve us from corruption and help us draw closer daily to you and to each other, until we come to share with you the joys of Heaven.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, help us to be a holy family.
