ALBERT GUTH

Funeral services for Albert Guth were held Tuesday, December 21, 1982, at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Leon Wallace of the United Methodist Church, Irwin, officiating. Organist was Dorothy Kusel, vocalist was Judy Joens. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Barry Kusel, Alan Kusel, Chris Brandt, Joe Brandt, Al Rix and Alan Lorenzen as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Albert Guth, son of Henry and Dora (Wieck) Guth, was born June 26, 1905, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He attended the Aspinwall School.

In 1936 he was united in marriage with Leona Petersen. That same year they went to Montana to live, but Albert's wife died in a fire after they had been there only a short time. He returned to Iowa and made his home with his mother on the home farm west of Aspinwall. About 13 years ago he left the farm and made his home in Audubon. He shared a house with his good friend Henry Axland.

Albert died unexpectedly December 17, 1982, after having eye surgery at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Albert was a familiar face in Manning and the surrounding communities. He spent much of this time driving from town to town visiting with friends. He also enjoyed fishing and especially loved horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Julius, four sisters, Alma Ewoldt, Anne Eickelkamp, Alice Lamp and Laura McCann.

He is survived by two brothers, Henry of Montana and Ray of Wyoming, and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Ohde of Washington, and Mrs. Florence Wegner, Montana, and his good friend, Henry Axland. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, including: Delores, Mrs. Arlo Petersen, Kirkman, Carol, Mrs. Roger Gaer, Highmore, S.D., Myrna, Mrs. Gary Erb, Manning, and Audrey, Mrs. Lou Popp, Vail.


Albert Guth is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
