ALBERT G. JANSEN
Albert, son of Louis and Katherine (Frahm) Jansen, was born September 26, 1894, near Manning, Iowa. The family moved to the Manilla area where Albert attended country schools; later he also attended school in Manning.

On July 5, 1916, Albert was united in marriage with Lena Gruhn at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning by Reverend John Ansorge. Thirteen children were born to this union. Albert and Lena made their home in Manning until 1918 when they moved to Dallas, South Dakota where Albert was engaged in farming. In the early 1950s the family moved to Springfield, South Dakota where Albert was employed at Southern State Teacher's College. Albert and Lena moved back to Manning in the early 1970s.

In the late 1980s Albert and his wife moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary there in July of 1991. Lena died later that year and Albert continued to make his home at the Plaza. He died there early Tuesday morning, February 23, 1993, at the age of 98 years, 4 months, and 28 days.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Harold and Clarence; a grandson, David; three daughters-in-law: Helen, Ann, and Vernell; a son-in-law, Emil Ruhde; four brothers: Henry, Walter, Rudolph, and John Jansen; and four sisters: Anna Martens, Rosa Stamer, Frieda Dunn, and Emma in infancy.

Survivors include his children: Bernice Ruhde, of Manning; Louis Jansen, of Manning; Leroy Jansen and his friend, Millie, of Carroll; Leonard Jansen and his wife, Donna, of Gregory, South Dakota; William Jansen and his wife, Margaret, of Gordon, Nebraska; Clifford Jansen and his wife, Orpha, of Pierre, South Dakota; John Jansen and his wife, Maxine, of Sioux City, Iowa; Deloris and her husband, Wallis Tonsfeldt, of Spirit Lake; Melvin Jansen and his wife, Jean, of McMinnville, Oregon; Duane Jansen and his wife, Arlis, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and Joan and her husband, Charles Odens, of Forest City, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Nina Jansen, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Wilbert Jansen and his wife, Stella, of Castana, Iowa, and Raymond Jansen and his wife, Alice, of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Leone and her husband, Wesley Young, of Moline, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
