Funeral service for J. Alfred Kuhl, 77, retired Manning businessman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Mr. Kuhl, who retired recently after more than fifty years in the hardware business, died suddenly at his home on Monday afternoon. The Complete obituary appears on an inside page. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Harry (Clara) Hoffeins. He is survived by his wife, two children: Mrs. Steve (Luella) Roberts of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dr. Paul Kuhl, West Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for J. Alfred Kuhl, 77, retired Manning hardware dealer, will be held, at 11 o'clock this Thursday morning, March 21, 1968, at Zion Lutheran Church here, with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke, conducted the services, with Dorothy Kusel, organist.

Mr. Kuhl, who retired early this year after more than fifty years in business died suddenly at his home on Monday afternoon, March 18.

Son of Julius Kuhl and Catherine Reif, he was born June 9, 1892, in Iowa Township,

Crawford County, and attended rural schools. He moved to Des Moines with his parents and attended business college there.

On June 9, 1915, he married Jessie Rohr of Manning, and entered the hardware business of Rostermundt and Kuhl, which later became Kuhl & Vogt. He was active in civic affairs, and served as a member of the Manning Board of Education for many years. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, he was treasurer of that body for years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mrs. Harry (Clara) Hoffeins. He is survived by his wife, two children: Mrs. Steve (Luella) Roberts of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dr. Paul Kuhl, West Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
