ALICE R. KUHL JAHN
Alice, daughter of John and Antonia (Kuhl) Wilhelm, was born August 2, 1909, at Egan, South Dakota. She attended the schools near her home.

On August 31, 1931 Alice was united in marriage with Herbert Kuhl. Two sons, Gene and Rollin, were born to this union. They farmed in the Manning area, moving to Aspinwall in 1943, and to Manning in 1947. In 1959 they moved to Carroll; Alice will be remembered as a long time employee and seamstress at Ellerbrocks. She also did sewing for other people throughout her life. Alice's husband, Herbert, died in 1970.

On April 10, 1976, Alice was united in marriage with Louie P.H. Jahn. They farmed near Manning, moving into town in 1978; in 1981 they moved to Lake View. After Louie's death in 1986 Alice moved to senior housing in Denison. Later she entered the Eventide Home in Denison, and died there late Sunday morning, February 12, 1995, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 10 days.

Besides her husbands, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Alma Jahn; and a step-son, Larry Jahn.

Survivors include her sons: Gene Kuhl and his wife, Phyllis, of Westside, Iowa; and Rollin Kuhl, and his wife, Bev, of Irwin, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Connie McCollough, Doug Kuhl, Kristi Hoffman, Deborah Kraus, Sheila Peters, Scott Kuhl, and Sara Kuhl; 14 great grandchildren; a step-son and step-daughter: Lowell Jahn of Wyoming, and Jeanette Jahn of Denver, Colorado; a step-daughter-in-law, Marlene Jahn, of Manilla; several step-grandchildren; her brother, Hugo Wilhelm, and his wife, Elsie, of Manning; her sister, Selma, and her husband, Kenneth Olson, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews, cousins. other relatives and friends.

For the Lord is my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
- The Psalms
