MRS. HARRY G. (ALICE) KARSTEN
Funeral services for Mrs. Harry G. (Alice) Karsten were held Monday, February 17, 1986, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Paul Krumm officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist and the Zion Lutheran Quartet as vocalists. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Orvill Nobiling, Melvin Pfannkuch, Arlo Pfannkuch, Harold Schmidt, Walt Lage and Merle Stoelk as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Minnie, daughter of Hannas and Amanda Nobiling Bahr, was born March 30, 1909, in Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural schools near her home where she continued to live until her marriage to Harry G. Karsten on October 10, 1940, at Wall Lake, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, Iowa, until they retired and moved to Manning in 1972. Alice enjoyed her role as a mother and homemaker. She was very active in the Zion Lutheran Church, belonging to Dorcas and Sewing Circle.

Alice had been in poor health for two years but was able to care for herself and remain in her own home until two days before her death on Friday, February 14, 1986, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Iowa. She was 76 years, 10 months, and 15 days of age.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Roland, and infant sister, Gladys.

She is survived by her husband, Harry, of Manning; a son, Duane Karsten, of Manning; a daughter, Shirley, and her husband, Glen Ahrendsen, of Manning; one sister, Bernice, and her husband, Bill Schwanz of Wall Lake; two brothers: Herbert Bahr, and his wife, Eleanor of Wall Lake, and Melvin Bahr, and his wife, Verna, of Wall Lake; by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Alice Karsten is buried in the Manning City Cemetery
