Little Allen Dalgety Dies
October 20, 1910 Manning Monitor

Perhaps never in the history of the town was there such a distressing and sad accident as occurred October 10 when the young son of Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgety fell from the wagon and was run over. The little son who loved to follow his father about the yard as he worked had climbed upon the wagon and was riding beside his father. In an unguarded moment he either moved quickly or jumped and before he could be rescued the wagon wheel passed over him. No one is to blame for the accident, and the father became almost distracted when he learned what had happened. Kind friends did everything they could to lessen the shock to the parents. A physician was hastily summoned but the angel of death had preceded him and had winged his flight to heaven bearing with him a soul to live among the angels. Rev. Aleridge, pastor of the Presbyterian Church preached the funeral sermon at the house Saturday afternoon. He spoke comforting words to the bereaved parents and told of the time when they all would be assembled in heaven.

Afterwards sorrowing relatives and friends followed the remains to the Manning Cemetery where they were laid to rest. His death is sad, doubly sad. To the parents it was like pulling at their very heart strings to let him go. But God's will is supreme and all must bow to Him who rules and guides the destinies of all men. Little Allen was three years, four months and thirteen days old when he was snatched from his parents. In him were future hopes, now shattered. The bereaved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of all their friends who sorrow with them in their hour of sorrow.

Card of thanks.
