Alma Frahm

Funeral services for Alma Elizabeth Schrum Frahm were held Monday, November 18, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery with Michael Swerczek, David Swerczek, Mark Enenbach, Bradley Swerczek, Tom Quest, and Phil Haller as casketbearers.

Alma, daughter of Heinrich and Catherine (Bade) Schrum, was born March 31, 1902, near Manning, Iowa. She lived in Hayes and Iowa Township as a youth and attended rural schools as well as Manning schools after the family moved into town. On May 10, 1939, she was united in marriage with John Frahm at the Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They lived in Manning but farmed north of town. Alma was a homemaker and enjoyed handiwork as well as gardening with her husband. Her husband died in 1981. Alma remained in their home until 1984 when she entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She had been in failing health for many years and died Friday, November 15, 1991, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, LaVerne Frahm Bjorndahl; three brothers: Carl in infancy, Henry and William; two sisters: Minnie Kruse and Margaret Oeser.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary and her husband, Don Swerczek, of Omaha; Two stepdaughters: Helen and her husband, Bill Enenbach, of Omaha and Marian Vajcner, of Brea, California; a step-son-in-law, Joe Bjorndahl, of Brea, California; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Bable, of Rock Rapids, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
