Mrs. A.H. Hinz Takes Own Life

The community was shocked to hear the sad news Tuesday that Alma (Mrs. A.H.) Hinz had taken her own life and attempted that of her son, Harlyn. It is understood that Mrs. Hinz was mentally unbalanced at the time of the act and in no condition to realize what she was doing. Mr. Hinz was at work in Botna at the time.

Arsenic was placed in food for the noon meal and after eating a portion of the doped food, the boy immediately became quite ill, vomiting and coughing up what he had eaten. Mrs. Hinz called for Dr. Amos Carlile hoping that he could do something to relieve the suffering lad. The mother made no statement whatever and nothing concerning what had happened could be obtained. Harlyn pleaded with his mother to tell what had happened and thus the tragedy was disclosed.

Mrs. Hinz died shortly before eight o'clock Tuesday evening.

Harlyn is recovering as well as can be expected and no doubt he will completely recover under the care of a physician.

The funeral will be held at the Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Obituary will be published next week.
