Alta M. Ahrendsen

Funeral services for Alta M. Ahrendsen were held Sunday, August 23, 1992, at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Barry Wageman, Larry Ahrendsen, Cory Ahrendsen, Chuck Butzlaff, Jeffrey Wageman, and Christopher Butzlaff as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Edward Madsen, Nathan Kaczor, Libby Kaczor, Joseph Wageman, Jonathan Butzlaff, Wendy Ahrendsen, Lynn Stein, Joel Kaczor, Bradley Wageman, Jeremy Butzlaff, Jodi Ahrendsen, and Brian Ahrendsen.

Alta, daughter of Herman and Anna (Schultz) Ahrendsen, was born on July 25, 1919, in her parents' farm home five miles south of Manning, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. Alta was educated in the rural schools near her home.

Alta made her home with her parents on the farm and after they moved to Manning in 1941. For nearly fifteen years she worked for John and Lena Jones; at other times Alta was employed at OCOMA Foods, the Manning Plaza, and Nelson Manufacturing. Recently, Alta and her brother, Arthur, made their home together in South Manning.

Alta died suddenly Thursday morning August 20, 1992, shortly after being taken to Manning General Hospital, at the age of 73 years, and 26 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Lorenz.

Survivors include her brother, Arthur, of Manning; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ahrendsen, of Manning; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Alta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Evening Circle. She cared for others and her friends were important to her.
