ALVA FUSS
Funeral services for Alva Fuss were held Tuesday, March 31, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Pastor Henry Jensen, Calvary Baptist Church, Manning, officiated the service with Connie Siepker as organist, and Phil Stracke as soloist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Jim Eich, Michael Eich, Todd Jensen, Earl Pfannkuch, Mark Eich, and Harry Fischer serving as casketbearers.

Alva, daughter of Richard and Anna Kai Schacht, was born November 7, 1913, at Aspinwall, Iowa. She attended Aspinwall School. As a young woman Alva cared for her Grandmother Kai. For many years I she was a cook at the old Virginia Cafe in Manning and later at Saunders Steak House. She was united in marriage with Emil Fuss on August 23, 1941. Alva has always made her home in the Manning area.

Following her husband's death on July 11, 1984 Alva moved to the Terrace Apartments in Manning. For the past two months she had been a resident of the Bayard Care Center in Bayard, Iowa. She died there early Friday morning, March 27, 1987, at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 20 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Irene Armentrout.

Alva is survived by two sisters, Virgene and her husband, Jack Kuns, of Templeton and Donna and her husband, Karl Mahnke, of Manilla; and by a sister-in-law, Minnie Fuss.
