Al then worked as a machine operator at Emmert Manufacturing in Audubon for many years, retiring in 1979. He was employed by Noble Manufacturing in Sac City until he fully retired in 1982. Following his retirement he and Alice traveled extensively. In May of 1998 they moved to their present home in Manning.
