AMALIA MARGARETHEA "MOLLIE" HASS

Margarethea "Mollie" Hass, daughter of Peter F. and Dorothea (Siercks) Hansen, was born August 21, 1898, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. She attended rural schools near her home. On February 5, 1919, Mollie was united in marriage with Leon Hass at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln Township. Two children were born to this union. They lived and worked in Manning. Mollie was a homemaker and worked with her husband at Hass Shoe Service. Leon died on August 15, 1974.

Mollie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dorcas Society, and American Legion Auxiliary.

On September 1, 1978, Mollie became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there on Sunday, December 7, 1997, at the age of 99 years, 3 months, and 17 days.

Besides her parents and husband, Mollie was preceded in death by two brothers: Otto Hansen and Hugo Hansen; three sisters: Anna Pruter, Alma Miller and Hilda Fischer; a daughter-in-law: Anita "Babe" Hass.

Mollie is survived by two sons: Harry Hass of Denison and LeRoy Hass and his wife, Ruth, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Lillie Hansen of Manning, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 10, 1997, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor Robert Vogel and Pastor Curt Dwyer officiating. Songs by the congregation included "I'm But A Stranger Here", "Just As I Am" and "I Know My Redeemer Lives". Organist was Carlys Stribe.

Interment was in the Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa. Honorary casketbearers were Mollie's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Robert Hansen, Valgene Kruse, Kenny Jensen, Merlin Irlbeck, Emmett Mullen and Brent Haynes.

Ohde Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
