She was baptized August 18, 1902, by Pastor Lothringer at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Amanda lived on various farms with her parents until 1908, when the family moved to Aspinwall. Amanda attended school in Manning and Aspinwall and was confirmed December 20, 1936, by Pastor J.M. Ansorge at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

On March 23, 1927, Pastor William Frese united Amanda in marriage with Hans Jurgen Clausen at the Lutheran parsonage in Denison. The couple lived in Aspinwall. Her husband worked for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and Amanda was a homemaker, not only in her own home, but also helped her sisters and other family members. After Hans died January 10, 1955, Amanda's father Louis came to live with her until his death in 1963. She continued to live in her home in Aspinwall often helping others in their homes during her retirement years.

Amanda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She was a member of the Aspinwall Lutheran Ladies Aid Society and in later years became an associate member of the Guild. She enjoyed embroidery and yard work, especially her flowers. Amanda's nieces and nephews and their families were of the utmost importance to her.

On August 21, 1995, Amanda became a resident of the Manilla Manor in Manilla. Iowa and died there Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at the age of 100 years and 2 months.
