Mrs. Fischer was born December 26, 1893, in Germany, the daughter of Leo and Henrietta (Lobetz) Fuss. She came to the U.S. at the age of 13, and settled near Gray in Audubon County. On April 30, 1912, she married August Fischer in her parent's home.

The couple farmed south of Manning until they moved into town 26 years ago. Because of ill health, they moved to Manning Plaza in February 1973. Mrs. Fischer was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Evening Circle in Manning.

She was preceded in death by one son, Max, and a sister in infancy. Her survivors include her husband; two sons, Elmer and Harry, both of Manning; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Emil Fuss of Manning and Art Fuss of Marceline, Missouri.
