FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. BARTELS TO BE AT MANNING
MANNING (THNS) Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral home here for Mrs. Fred Bartels of Buena Park, California, formerly of Manning, who died at the Fullerton hospital in Buena Park. The Rev. Johann M. Ansorge, pastor of the Lutheran Church, will officiate.

MANNING BURIAL
Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers, former neighbors of Mrs. Bartels, will be: John Peters, William Nulle, James Mundt, Adolph H. Hinz, William Jensen and John Campbell.

Mrs. Bartels, 85, was born December 12, 1862, in Holstein, Germany. Her maiden name was Anna Christina Wunderlich. At the age of 19 years, she came to Manning with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Struve. She married Herman Kusel in 1905 at Manning. The couple was living on a farm when Mr. Kusel died in 1905. The following year she moved into Manning. Her marriage to Mr. Bartels took place in 1913. Twelve years ago Mr. and Mrs. Bartels left Manning to make their home permanently in California.

SURVIVORS
Besides her husband, Mrs. Bartels leaves one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Kooiman (Dora) of Buena Park. A daughter, Mrs. Joe Kooiman (Emma), died June 21, 1930, and a son, William, December 21, 1918. Services were held in Buena Park Sunday. The body, accompanied by Mrs. Kooiman, arrived in Manning last night. Mr. Bartels was unable to make the trip here. Mrs. Bartels, who had been in failing health about four years, had been hospitalized 10 days before her death.


Anna Kusel-Bartels is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
