Anna Augusta, daughter of Claus Henry and Anna (Schwiesow) Grimm, was born November 3, 1901, in Crawford County, Iowa. When Anna was a small child, her family moved to Carroll County where she attended country school. After her schooling she helped her folks on the farm and worked as a hired girl.

On January 18, 1922, Anna was united in marriage with Henry Ewoldt. One son was born to this union. Anna and Henry worked on various farms around Manning and Manilla. After Henry died on May 15, 1956, Anna lived in Manning for a short time before returning to Manilla.

Anna was a member of the United Church of Manilla and the Helping Hand Club. She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, playing cards and crocheting dozens of afghans.

Anna was able to remain in her home until August 3, 2001, when she became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home. On Tuesday, September 4, 2001, she died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. She was 99 years, 10 months, and 1 day of age.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters: Lena Grage, Bertha Genzen, Emma Gottsch, and Ida Wiese; and two brothers Henry Grimm and John Grimm.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Ewoldt and his wife Ann of Manilla; two grandchildren: Paula and her husband Richard Burgin of Boise, Idaho and Phyllis Ewoldt of Jefferson; two step-grandchildren: Randall Ranes of Bakersfield, California and Terri and her husband Gregg Gimlin of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-grandchildren Will and Anna Burgin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
