Mrs. Jurgen (Anna) Frahm
Dies At Age of 91
Mrs. Frahm, nee Hansen, died Wednesday, November 29. She had been ailing for some time and for the last two weeks, hospital care had been given her but to no avail. She lived to a ripe old age and had every affection and attention given her by her children in her affliction. She enjoyed many friends Manning and was highly esteemed by all.
Mrs. Frahm was born November 8th, 1848, in Winnert, Kreis Husum, Schleswig, Germany, where she was baptized and spent her childhood days. She was also confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Ostenfeldt, near Husum.
On May 19, 1871, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jurgen Frahm, to which union one son, Henry was born. They remained in their native country until 1874 when they came to America and settled in Clinton, Iowa. After 8 years they moved to Carroll County and settled on a farm north of Manning where they farmed for 19 years. In 1901 they retired from active farm life and moved, to Manning where they purchased a comfortable home on Second and May Street, where they lived for many years.
Her husband, Jurgen Frahm, passed away in 1916, and her son Henry in 1925, which was quite a blow to the mother. After the death of her husband, and as the years of toil became more burdensome, she found a comfortable home with her son and daughter-in-law since1929, where she received the most tender care until she was called to her reward at the age of 91 years and 21 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter-in-law, three grandchildren: George Frahm, Herbert Frahm and Mrs. Henry Popp; three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Frahm and family settled near Manning at the time when the town was but a year old and she has known the joys and sorrows of this community, its tradition, its material and spiritual growth. Here her home has been, her family reared, her busy life has been spent, her battles fought and her faithful services rendered. She was a faithful and loving as a wife, devoted and self-sacrificing as a mother; kind, charitable and helpful as a neighbor, consistent and willing as a Christian worker.
