Mrs. Anna Fritz's Final Rites Held at Manning Wednesday

Funeral Services for Mrs. Anna Fritz, 82, resident of Manning for more than 50 years, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home here Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. James Walls of the Methodist Church officiated.

Anna Johanna Kortum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kortum, was born May 9, 1871, in Landbirchen, Germany. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith there.

She came to America May 9, 1881, and her family settled near Walnut. On October 18, 1890, she married Andrew Fritz and the couple farmed near Botna. They had five children: Louie, Martin, Fred, Jay, and Abbie.

Mrs. Fritz died at the Pfoltner Nursing Home in Manning December 19, 1953, following an illness of three years.

She is survived by one son, Jay, Compton, California; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Jake Kortum, Hastings, Nebraska; Fred Kortum, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. Charles Shafenburg (Mate), Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Bob Winters (Emma), Roseburg, Oregon; Mrs. George Dammann, (Rosa), Manning; Mrs. Marie Cooper, Dayton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four children, Louie, Martin, Fred, and Abbie, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Mrs. Fritz was a member of the Manning Methodist Church.

Note: The Pfoltner Nursing home was a large house that was converted into a nursing home. Louise (Mrs. Herman) Pfoltner ran the home at 1003 South Main.
