She had been in her usual health and passed away suddenly after having been in her flower garden where she had been preparing for flowers which she loved so much. Each year her garden was almost if not entirely a show place where friends often came to admire her beautiful flowers and which she liberally plucked and gave to her many friends. "Give flowers to the living" was beautifully illustrated in these acts of love and affection. How true it is that such love and consideration for others joys is most commendable and near divine.
She contributed much to the happiness of her host of friends through her whole life by loving consideration for the comforts and pleasures she wanted them to have. She was always neighborly and cared for her own with sacrificial consideration. Her friends and loved ones, arise and call her blessed.
She was confirmed in the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany and continued in that faith through her life.
In 1880 she came to Vail, Iowa, and a year later sent for her father and only sister.
On October 10, 1883, she was united in marriage to Hans Hinrichs at Westside, Iowa, and took up residence at Vail. A little later they moved to Manning where she lived the rest of her life with the exception of two years in Aspinwall.
To this union were born seven children. Those surviving her are Emma, Mrs. W.T. Ralph, Sac City; Amanda, Mrs. Joe St. Onge, Vivian, South Dakota; Hans Hinrichs, Long Beach, California; Edith Mrs. A.J. Rushenberg, Templeton, Iowa; Margaret, Mrs. Earl Butterworth, Humboldt, Iowa; Captolia, Mrs. E.H. Greteman, Templeton. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. John Hollander, Manilla, Iowa.
In June 1915 she was united in marriage to Henry Hagedorn who preceded her in death in May 1934.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, April 2 at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. E.E. Zimmerman, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Diagonal, officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
Pallbearers were C.L. Wilhite, William Horman, James Surridge, Julius Wehrmann, Glen Brandhorst, Harry C. Reinholdt.
