Anna Hugeback

Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Hugeback was held Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manning, Iowa. Father James McAlpin was the celebrant with Mary Cain as Lector, Bob Lehrkamp as Eucharistic Minister, Nate Hugeback, Matt Hugeback and Tim Hugeback as Mass Servers and Lydia Lehrkamp, Becky Moeller and Linda Cenek as Gift Bearers. Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir with Maureen Halbur as organist. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Kent Hugeback, Keith Hugeback, Bryan Hugeback, John Hugeback, Travis Lowe and Jeff Moeller as casketbearers. Prayer services held Monday, December 29, 1997, at Ohde Funeral Home were Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m.

Anna, daughter of Joseph and Johanna (Schillinger) Muhlbauer, was born July 27, 1907, near Halbur, Iowa. She attended St. Augustine's School in Halbur.

On January 11, 1927, Ann was united in marriage with Joe Hugeback at Halbur. Three children were born to this union. They farmed near Templeton and Halbur before moving to their farm near Manning in 1935. Ann was a homemaker and helped her husband with the farm. After the sudden death of her husband in 1953, Ann remained on the farm for a year and then moved into Manning.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning since 1935. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the, Americas and the VFW Auxiliary. She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Ann had been in failing health for about a year before her death on Friday, December 26, 1997, at her home in Manning. She was 90 years, 4 months, and 30 days of age.

Besides her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents: a daughter, Esther, in infancy; a daughter-in-law, Mary; three brothers: Charles, Joe, and Frank Muhlbauer; and six sisters: Frances Irlmeier, Katherine Riesselman, Cecelia Riesselman, Elizabeth Herbers, Jennie Singsank, and Mayme Fangman. She is survived by her two sons: Jr. Hugeback and his wife, Jean, of Manning and Leon Hugeback and his wife, Barb, of New Hampton; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
