MRS. J. FRED DETHLEFS
October 23, 1913 Manning Monitor

Last Thursday the Angel of Death entered the Fred Dethlefs home and took his wife from him. Anna (Jepsen) Dethlefs, for over a year, had battled for life from a sickness that baffled the medical profession. For almost a year she had been bedfast, gradually growing weaker. Every care and attention was given her but of no avail. At times she seemed to rally only to sink lower again after her struggle to get well had passed. Some time ago she was taken to Omaha and there given medical treatment and care. Then she was brought home, a trained nurse returning to look after her.

Anna Jepsen was born at Alsen, Germany, January 6, 1882, and died October 16, 1913. When nine years of age she came with her parents to Audubon where she lived until her marriage with Fred Dethlefs, March 16, 1910.

Besides a husband she leaves to mourn her death, a brother, Peter Jepsen, living near Fiscus, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Carl Andersen, living near Ross, Iowa. Both her parents have already crossed the great border line from whence none return.

The funeral was held Sunday from the German Lutheran Church, Rev. Johann Ansorge preached the sermon. The body was taken by kind hands to the Manning Cemetery and laid to rest until the Judgment Day.

The deceased was of a happy disposition and made friends easily. In her home she made an ideal wife.

At the burial the sincere token of friendship of relatives and friends was shown by the profusion of beautiful flowers.

The sorrowing relatives can feel that their friends sympathize keenly with them in their sad affliction.
