CAROLINA CATHERINA "LENA" KUHL

Anna Katherina Carolina "Lena" Kuhl, daughter of Paul William and Catherina (Lemster) Jahn, was born March 1, 1881, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. She was married to Hinrich Edmund Kuhl on March 23, 1904. They resided on a farm in Iowa Township where her husband died in May of 1960. At the age of 85 she moved to the Manning Plaza where she passed away August 31, 1977, at the age of 96. She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed at the Manning Zion Lutheran Church where she remained a life long member.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Herbert and one daughter, Mrs. Melvina Vollstedt.

She is survived by two daughters, Elsie, Mrs. Hugo Wilhelm and Mrs. Kathryn

Vollstedt of Manning; by two sons, Marvin of rural Manilla and Marcus of Denison; by 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild; by two brothers, Herman Jahn of Manning and Hugo Jahn of Manilla; by one sister, Mrs. Adele Mordhorst of Cheyenne, Wyoming, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 3, 1977, at the Zion Lutheran Church, at Manning at 10:00 a.m.

Officiating was Pastor Edward Heinicke, organist Dorothy Kusel, burial was at the Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa.
Casketbearers were Hugo P.G. Jahn, Paul Jahn, Lester Meggers, Emil Peper, Wayne Jahn, and Roy Jahn.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
