Anna "Minnie" Kuhn

Funeral services for Anna Minnie Kuhn were held Saturday, June 28, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, Iowa. Pastor Curt Dwyer officiated the service with Carlys Stribe as organist. Interment was held in Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Warren Puck, Leland Kienast, Howard Roe, Tim Kienast, Kenneth Puck and Chuck Coleman as casket bearers.

Anna Minnie, daughter of Fred and Pauline (Tessman) Kuhn, was born August 17, 1895, in Atlantic, Iowa. In 1896 the family moved to a farm in Shelby County, where she grew up with her four brothers and five sisters and attended rural schools.

Minnie was baptized as an infant and was confirmed on March 20, 1910, at Zion Lutheran Church, Manning. She continued her membership in that church throughout her life. Following the death of her parents, she continued in the role of a caregiver for elderly people in their homes in Manning and the surrounding vicinity. An accomplished seamstress, Minnie spent much of her time at this, her favorite hobby.

Minnie made her home with her sister, Emma Wycoff, until entering St. Anthony Nursing Home, Carroll, in 1974. Shortly before her death, she was transferred to St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, where she died on Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at the age of 101 years, 10 months, and 8 days.

She was preceded in death by four infant brothers and sisters in Germany; by her parents; by four brothers: Fred Jr., Emil, Ernest, and Frank Kuhn; and by five sisters: Lilly Stuhr, Mary Pike, Emma Wycoff, Clara Hall and Elsie Hoffmann Koehrsen.

Minnie is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
