DIES AT AGE OF 74

Mrs. Thomas Lorenzen Dies After Short Illness at Her Home in Denison, August 28

Mrs. Anna Margaretha Lorenzen passed away at the family residence in this city Thursday, August 26, at 7:45 a. m., after an illness of several weeks duration. Mrs. Lorenzen had reached the age of 74 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Anna Margaretha Asmussen was born in Schleswig, Germany, May 16, 1852, and there grew to young womanhood. She was married there to Thomas Lorenzen, June 6, 1875. In the year 1881, Mr. Lorenzen came to America, locating in Crawford County, and after having established the home here, was joined a year later by his wife. For a time they lived in East Boyer Township, moving to Irwin, later returning to Crawford County, residing on a farm here until 1915, when they moved to Denison.

The deceased was the mother of 11 children, three of whom preceded the mother in death. The living are Mrs. Carl Bendixen, Buck Grove; Mrs. Minnie Steel, Denison; Mrs. John Hansen, Manning; Mrs. John Weber, Denison; Peter Lorenzen, Julius, South Dakota; Mrs. Henry Schneller, Denison; Mrs. John Carstens, Vail; Louie Lorenzen, Vail, and 57 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and also one sister residing in Germany.

Mrs. Lorenzen was a devoted wife and mother, and a woman who was held in high esteem by all who know her.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Welsh officiating, after which interment was made in Oakland Cemetery.
