ARLO BORNHOFT

Arlo Bornhoft, 61, of Manilla, died Saturday, December 3, 1983, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

He was a farmer and had worked part-time for Rasmussen Lumber, Super Cross Hybrid and Grage Elevator and later full-time for Lynks Seeds until he became ill in July of 1983.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 5, at Trinity Lutheran church in Manilla with the Rev. Glenn Wieckmann officiating. Bonnie Lorenzen was organist. Burial was in Nishnabotna Cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manilla. Serving as casketbearers were Willie E. Hansen, Gerald Jurgensen, Pete Soe, Glen Macumber, Verle Massman and Bob Rasmussen.

A prayer service was conducted at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Mr. Bornhoft is survived by his wife, Alice, Manilla; three sons: Dennis and his wife, Sara; Douglas and his wife Sheila, and Byron Bornhoft and his wife Patty; two daughters: Lana Georgius and her husband Brad, and Julie Bornhoft, all of Manilla; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Harold Bornhoft, Schleswig; a sister, Mrs. Roger Nissen, Carroll; his stepmother, Malinda Bornhoft, Manning, and two step-sisters: Mrs. Bud (Marge) Stahl, Manning, and Mrs. Lyle (Lois) Hansen, Denison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Mr. Bornhoft was born February 25, 1922, at Westside, a son of Walter and Maria "Mamie" (Will) Bornhoft. He was married to Alice Wenzel on March 24, 1944. They farmed near Westside until 1952 when they moved to south of Manilla where they continued to farm until 1957. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and held several offices in the church.
