ARNOLD BRUS

Arnold, son of Otto and Emma Lage Brus, was born December 22, 1905 in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He attended rural schools in Iowa Township and Hayes Township.

On June 14, 1939, Arnold was united in marriage with Luella Kahl. Three children, Wayne, Robert and Georgia, were born to this union. They made their home on a farm northwest of Manning in Hayes Township. In the fall of 1992 they moved into Manning.

Arnold's wife, Luella, died in January of this year. He then moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Arnold's health deteriorated rapidly this month and he died at the Plaza on Wednesday evening, July 27, 1994, at the age of 88 years, seven months and five days.

Besides his wife, Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Vertus.

Survivors include his children, Wayne Brus and his wife, Joyce of Ankeny, Robert Brus and his wife, Judy of San Antonio, Texas, and Georgia and her husband, Dale Musfeldt of Denver, Col.; six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew and Ryan Brus and Michael, Jennifer and Sara Musfeldt; a brother, Elmer Brus of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arnold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. For many years he served on the Board of Directors of the Aspinwall Coop. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, bowling and playing cards. As a young man, Arnold was a member of the Harmony Boys Band and played on the Aspinwall baseball team. During those years, he also worked at painting and decorating.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor Robert Riggert officiating. Music was, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Amazing Grace," and "I'm But a Stranger Here" with Fern Jensen as organist.

Interment was in Manning City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arlan Jans, Richard Brus, Richard Fischer, Dean Hargens, James Meyer and Russell Ranniger.
Honorary pallbearers were Wilmer Ranniger, Art Fielweber, Walter Lage and Harry Jensen.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.


Arnold Brus is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
