Arthur Ernest, son of Ernest and Wilhelmine Simon Rohr Kuhn, was born December 2, 1925, on a farm in Shelby County, Iowa. He attended rural school near his home and then completed his education at Manning High School. Art was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith by Pastor J. M. Ansorge at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. When his brothers entered the military service he remained at home and helped with the family farming.

On August 18, 1946, Art was united in marriage with Delores Rix at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor J. M. Ansorge officiating. Three children were born to this union. Art farmed west of Manning for a short time and then the family moved to the farm southwest of Manning where he and Delores lived for 53 years. Keeping his farm in immaculate condition was very important to Art.

Art was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning where he served as an elder, deacon, and usher and on various committees. He was an avid euchre player, enjoyed woodworking, fishing with his grandchildren and collecting John Deere tractors. He also was fond of challenging his family to games of checkers, which he always won. Art enjoyed attending all kinds of sporting events. Above all he was devoted to his family.

Art became ill suddenly and unexpectedly while visiting his family in Omaha and died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Bergan Mercy Hospital emergency room in Omaha, NE. He was 76 years, 3 months and 5 days of age.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Robert Kuhn, sister Helen Weible and nephew Kent Weible.

Art is survived by his wife Delores Kuhn of Manning; three children: Kay and husband Dale Guenther of Omaha, NE.; David Kuhn of Grand Island, NE.; and Kristyn and husband John Dobler of Omaha, NE.; six grandchildren: Misti Guenther; Sheri Guenther; Jeramy Kuhn and wife Karen; Jessi and husband Tim Wagoner; Melanie Dobler and Shannon Dobler; two step-grandchildren Lisa McMeen and Stephanie Kavalec; two great grandchildren Austin Guenther and Morgan Lin Wagoner; four step- great grandchildren: Fletcher, Hannah and Madeline McMeen and Matthew Kavalec; two sisters Ruth and husband Bill Metcalf of Midland, MI. and Marjorie and husband Melvin Kusel of Manning; one brother Orrin Kuhn and wife Kay of West Union; brother-in-law John Weible of Omaha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33
