Arthur W. Bock, 93, a retired automobile dealer and a former Manning city councilman, died Saturday, August 16, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning.

He and his brother operated the Bock Brothers Garage in Templeton which later became the Manning Motor Company. He retired about 20 years ago. He was past president of the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association and served on the Manning City Council for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart church and an honorary life member of the Templeton Knights of Columbus.

Rite of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning with the Rev. Ralph Reinhart as celebrant. The church choir will provide music for the rites. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the parish cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Michael Bock, Ralph Bock and Howard Bock; John Meiners, Walter Schachtner and Paul Schachtner.

Rosaries will be recited at the funeral home at 7:30 and 8 p.m. Monday by the Templeton Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Bock is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Rosemary) Fee, Urbandale, Iowa; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Murphy, Alameda, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Perdita Bock and Colette Bock; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence in 1978, four brothers and a sister.

Mr. Bock was born at Rands, Iowa, on May 14, 1893, a son of John and Mary Jackie Bock. He attended school in Templeton. On April 10, 1923, he was married to Florence Schachtner at the former SS. Peter and Paul church in Carroll. He lived in Templeton until 1935 when he moved to Manning.
