DIED AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
August Friedrich Hansen Passed Away Wednesday in Manning

After an illness of one week, Mr. August Friedrich Hansen passed away at his home in Manning, Wednesday, May 17, aged 83 years, ten months and 13 days. Mr. Hansen was born July 5th, 1838, in Holstein, Germany, and came to America in 1868, settling in Clinton County. Here he was married in 1870 to Miss Trinke Ehrichs. Seven children were born to them, two dying in infancy. In 1872 they moved to Crawford County, settling in Hayes Township, where they lived until 1906, when they moved to Manning. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and five children, John Hansen of Crawford County; Miss Maggie Hansen of Manning; Mrs. Henry Mundt of Carroll County; Mrs. Henry Stuhr of Botna and Mrs. John Pencker of Manning; also twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral was held last Friday and interment took place in the Manning Cemetery, Rev. Thomas of Westside officiating.

After a short illness of only a week's duration, August Friedrich Hansen, former resident of Hayes Township, and well respected farmer, passed away at his home in Manning, Wednesday, May 17th at 3 P.M. at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 13 days.

August Friedrich Hansen was born July 5th, 1838, in Holstein, Germany. He came to America in 1868, settling first, in Clinton County, Iowa, where he was united in marriage with Trinke Ehrichs in 1870. Seven children were born to them. Two died in infancy. They moved to Crawford County in 1872, settling in Hayes Township, where they lived until 1906 moving to Manning.

He leaves to mourn his aged wife, one son and four daughters, namely, John Hansen of Crawford County, Miss Maggie Hansen of Manning, Mrs. Henry Mundt of Carroll County, Mrs. Henry Stuhr of Botna, Mrs. John Pencker of Manning. Besides these he leaves twenty grand-children and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 19th at 2 P.M., from the home in Manning and interment was made in the Manning Cemetery. Rev. Theodore A. Thomas, pastor of St. Evangelical Church of Westside officiated.


August Hansen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
