Funeral services for August Hansen, 79, were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Ohde Funeral Home, with Rev. Brown Garlock of the Manning Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery. Herman Grau, Peter F. Hansen, John R. Hansen, Erwin Hansen, Howard Hansen and Henry Meyers, all nephews, acted as pallbearers.

Mr. Hansen was born on December 23, 1870 in Seestacht, Germany. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the old country. At the age of 10 he came to the United States with his parents.

On July 9, 1895, he was married at Manning to Emma Kusel, who preceded him in death. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen farmed in this community until their retirement in 1917, when they moved to Manning. Mr. Hansen passed away at his home Friday, March 24, at 10 a. m.

He is survived by four children: Mrs. William Sibbel (Elsie) of Manning; Verdis, Carroll; Mrs. Alma Greteman, Arcadia; and Mrs. Glen Noe (Ida) of Waterloo. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. H.W. (Anna) Meyers, Manning; four grandchildren: Mrs. Hugh Davis of California; Mrs. Forrest Wiese, Arcadia; William Sibbel, Manning; and Erwin Stoelk, Waterloo; three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.


August Hansen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
