August Hansen
A bad accident occurred in early October on a Sunday evening about 9:50 o-clock when two young men, August Hansen and Henry Broman, were killed at Rollins Northwestern crossing.

They were first hit by the west-bound freight No. 133 and then the east-bound fast-mail a few seconds later. This crossing was about one and one-half miles east of Denison.

The mail train was traveling 60 miles an hour. Parts of the car were found 1500 feet from the crossing. Hansen's body was badly mutilated. Not until Monday morning were all parts found. One of his feet was found 300 feet from the point where the car was first struck.

Lawrence Servoss, returning from Vail with his family, was an eye witness.

While the freight train ran on to the passenger station, Sherriff Greene held up four east bound trains for one and one-half hours, while searchers were locating the remains of Hansen. Hansen worked for Walter Heiden as a farm-hand.
