Bernice M. Holst, 84, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. The funeral service was 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial was in the Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim, Iowa.

Bernice is survived by her children, Sondra Doughty and Richard (Pat) Holst of Fort Dodge, Mark (Dixie) Holst of Lake City, Rhonda (Michael) Fiorazo of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Rosey (Mark) Licht of Humboldt; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin, sons Fred and David, great-grandson Dakota Holst and her companion Johnnie Potts.

Bernice M. Steen was born in Manning on February 26, 1925, to William and Marie Steen. She grew up in the Manning area. She married Martin Holst on November 17, 1943. She was a VFW Auxiliary Member, Gold Star Mother and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on road trips, dancing and embroidery.
