Death of Mrs. C. T. Emmert
The saddest event we have been called upon to chronicle is the sudden death of Mrs. C.T. Emmert on Saturday morning March 31 after a brief illness. The death seems doubly sad on account of her extreme youth and the leaving bereft a young husband, and two infant sons but one week old at the time of her death.

Bertha May Turner was born at Randolph, Freemont County, Iowa, July 12th, 1882. She was married to Thomas Emmert of Dexter, Iowa, April 13, 1904, and until the time of her death has resided with her husband at this place. Mrs. Emmert was well known and greatly beloved by a host of friends who ever admired her sweet disposition and gentle womanly traits of character. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a consistent and faithful Christian. Only a few days before her death when she realized the end was near, with perfect resignation she sweetly murmured "When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there."

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.S. Burnette at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon; the body being laid to rest in the Dexter Cemetery.
Dexter Sentinel.

Mrs. Emmert will be remembered by many of our Manning people as Miss Bertha Turner and made her home for some years with Mr. and Mrs. Martin V. Tate east of town. She was also a great friend of Mrs. B.W. Baldwin. She was a very lovable young lady and Mr. Emmert has the sympathy of her many Manning friends in his sad affliction.
