Mrs. Bertha Holmberg, 80, died Wednesday noon at the Pfoltner Nursing Home here. She had been ill for several years before going to the nursing home more than two years ago

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ohde Funeral Home here. The Rev. Carl Sinning, minister of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Clifford Johnson will he vocal soloist and Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn, pianist. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmberg, widow of Gus Holmberg, was born January 26, 1878, in Germany. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Claussen.

Coming to the United States when six years old she had lived in Manning or vicinity most of her life. She married Mr. Holmberg at Manning. He died December 31, 1953,

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ramon Wycoff, three grandchildren, Robert, Rae Lynn and Gene Wycoff, one sister, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Hoffmann, Manning, and four brothers, Claus Claussen, Manning; Herbert Claussen, Des Moines; Herman Claussen, Winterset, and Harry Claussen, Coffeeville, Kansas.

Mrs. Holmberg vas preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William Claussen, Des Moines, and Rudolph Claussen, Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Delbert (Ella) Lane, California.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a past matron of Salona Chapter No. 231, Order of the Eastern Star.


NOTE: On the headstone it is listed as Bettye (1878-1958) wife of Gus (1883-1953)

Bertha Holmberg is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
