Services Today For Mrs. August Karsten, 54

Mrs. August Karsten, 54, died at the Wyatt Hospital Monday evening September 28, 1942, after an illness which extended back to June. She had been in the local hospital for five weeks, and has previously been hospitalized at Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral rites were held this afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home, with Rev. H.J. Timmer, pastor of the Manilla Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Jensen, Herman Opperman, George Kuhse, Fred Ehlers, Jr., George Jackson, and Hugo Hansen.

Mrs. Karsten, whose maiden name was Bertha Sophia Mohr, was born November 6, 1887, on a farm near Manning. She was a daughter of Gustav and Helen Mohr, the former of whom is deceased.

In 1909 she married August Karsten, who survives. She is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. William Brus (Leona), one son, Harry Karsten, her mother, Mrs. Helen Pruter, two brothers, John and Henry Mohr, one sister, Mrs. Herman Lage (Laura), all of Manning, and a niece, Mrs. Harold Schroeder of Manning, the former Bernice Karsten, whom she reared in her home.

Mrs. Karsten was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Mrs. Emil Stuedemann, (Etta), who died four years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Karsten have lived on a farm four miles northwest of Manning since their marriage.

Mrs. Karsten was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
