Funeral Service for Betty Dammann were held Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Patrick R. Sparling officiated with Erin Dammann as vocalist and Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with John Liechti, Roger Liechti, Gene Liechti, Dave Leiting, Steve Leiting, and Dale Behrens as casketbearers.

Betty Jane, daughter of Clarence and Matilda (Schutte) Obman, was born October 10, 1929, at Lake City, Iowa. She grew up on her family's farm near Lake City and attended school at Rockwell city, graduating in 1947. Betty then worked on the family farm before she moved to Arcadia in 1948.

On June 7, 1953, Betty was united in marriage with Arlo Dammann in Arcadia, Iowa. Three children were born to this union. Betty and Arlo farmed south of Manning until they semi-retired and moved into Manning in 1988.

Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in the Evening Circle, Bible Study group and Lutheran Braille Ministries. She was baptized December 15, 1929 and confirmed March 29, 1942. Throughout the years, she enjoyed cooking, baking, working on the farm and reading. Even though Betty could not see during her last years, she did enjoy going on walks, listening to music on the radio and spending time with her granddaughters.

On Sunday, December 12, 2004, Betty died suddenly and unexpectedly at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. She was 75 years, 2 months and 2 days of age.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law: Mac Liechti, Floyd Leiting and Harold Behrens and sisters-in-law Vi Behrens and Ella and husband Julius Dammann.

She is survived by her husband Arlo Dammann of Manning; three children: Gary Dammann of Manning; Coleen and husband Randy Chalfant of Guthrie Center; Wes Dammann and wife Joyce of Manning; five granddaughters: Stephanie Chalfant of Cedar Falls; Sara Chalfant of Guthrie Center; Jacqueline Dammann of Notre Dame, Indiana; Erin and Alyssa Dammann of Manning; sisters Ruth Liechti and Helen Leiting, both of Arcadia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
