Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Flanagan was held Monday, May 24, 2004, at 12:00 noon at St. Therese Church in Wayland, Michigan. Reverend Larry Kroll officiated the service. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa with Reverend James McAlpin officiating. Music was provided by Barb Grove and Larry Genzen as vocals and Anne Muhlbauer was the accompanist. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa with Scott Flanagan, Susan Franzen, Richard Flanagan, Cathy Steinorth, Carol Pumill, Katie Flanagan, Melissa Hocking, Lisa Falsetta.

Betty, daughter of Fred Christian and Margaretha Catherina (Peters) Boock, was born December 29. 1919, in Manning, Iowa. On June 15, 1940, Betty was united in marriage with John Flanagan at St. Anthony's Church in Des Moines. Three children were born to this union.

Over the years Betty lived in Des Moines, Grandville, Michigan, and several other cities and in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the last 24 years. She was a loving wife and proud mother who was involved in school, church and community activities, including 24 years in the PTA organization. She loved music, dancing, playing bridge and other games, and talking with people.
After several months of failing health, Betty died on May 21, 2004, at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents; brothers Herb and Albert Boock; sister-in-law Edith Boock and many cousins.

Betty is survived by husband John Flanagan of Grand Rapids; son David Flanagan and wife Judy of Wayland, Michigan; daughters Nancy and husband Larry Memmer of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and Mary Jane Flanagan and husband Grant Skomski of Mr. Pleasant, Michigan; grandchildren Scott Flanagan and wife Kymberli, Susan and husband Scott Franzen,

Richard Flanagan and wife Amy, Cathy and husband Eric Steinorth, Carol and husband Jason Pumill, Katie Skomski Flanagan, Melissa and husband Pat Hocking, Lisa and husband Tom Falsetta; ten great-grand children; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
