Bruce Hass

Bruce Melvin Hass, son of Melvin Carl and Vernetta Mae (Greder) Hass was born April 24, 1952, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. Bruce was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and confirmed in 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

Bruce attended Manning Community School for thirteen years, graduating with the class of 1970. Upon graduation, Bruce entered the Navy. In June of 1973, Bruce married Cleo Hardin in Cherokee and lived 5 years in Storm Lake. In 1978, Bruce spent time in the Chicago area before moving to California in 1979. Bruce lived in California until 1992 when he returned to Iowa to attend DMACC and earn his degree in respiratory therapy. Upon graduation, Bruce spent two years working in Seattle. In 1998, Bruce returned to California and was employed by the University of California Davis Medical Center.

Bruce died in his home in Olivehurst, California, on April 2, 2008.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Melvin, in 1974, his mother, Vernetta, in 2003, brothers and sisters: Virginia, Marcus, Barbara and Norman all in infancy, and Virgil in 1989. Bruce is survived by his sister Sandra Vahl and her husband Albert of Manning, three nieces: Miriah (daughter of Virgil) and her husband Geoff Crawley, of Baku, Azerbaijan, Gwendolyn Vahl and her fiancé Sean Mackey of Jacksonville, Florida, Andrea Vahl of Los Angeles, California, and a nephew Jason Vahl and his partner Jen Hille of St. Helens, Oregon.
