Carl Beastock
Death of Carl Beastock.
This community was shocked Sunday morning to hear of the death of Carl Beastock, one of
the pioneers of this community. Some few days ago he injured his hand, the wound was a
small one and not paid much attention to, but blood poison set in and then gangrene and in
only a few hours his soul took its flight to its maker. Mr. Beastock has resided in this
community for over twenty years and his death has caused deep sorrow in the hearts of his
many friends. He was born in Germany some 53 years ago, came to America with his parents
when a boy and has made this community his home a greater share of the time. He leaves a
wife and five children to mourn his loss and friends by the score. He was a member of the
German Lutheran Church and was a true Christian, and man everyone liked. The funeral
services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev: Ehlers and the
remains laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery south of town. We extend our sympathy to the
bereaved ones in their sorrow.
Note: there are no tombstone or city records for Carl Beastock or
a variation that is similar for the last name.
The Lutheran Cemetery south of town mentioned in the obituary is probably referring to the
Manning City Cemetery because other obituaries of this time frame refer to the "cemetery
south of town. At this same time there was a Catholic Cemetery referenced as northeast of
town.
