CARL LOUIE JAHN

Funeral services for Carl Louie Jahn, 83, Manning, were held on Thursday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke of Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, officiated; Dorothy Kusel, organist; with burial in the Hayes Township Cemetery. Nephews of Mr. Jahn served as pallbearers.

Carl Louie Jahn was born on March 23, 1891, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. He attended rural school near his home and worked on farms in the area where he lived. Carl was united in marriage to Estella Mordhorst on March 6, 1916 at Denison and has lived on the present farm Northwest of Manning since that time. His wife passed away on February 6, 1938 but continued making his home on the farm with his son, Wayne. He entered Manning General Hospital last Thursday and died there on Monday evening, September 23, 1974.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Lester in infancy, one grandson, his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include his four children, Mrs. William (Irene) Otto of Spence; Mrs. Carl (Ruby) Hauptman of Lake City; Mrs. Bennie (Geniece) Otto of Manning, and Wayne Jahn of Manning, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Lena Kuhl, Manning; Karsten Herman Jahn, Manning; Mrs. Amanda Peper, Flandreau, South Dakota; Mrs. Adelia Mordhorst, Cheyene, Wyoming; and Hugo Jahn, Manilla.
