Carl Lemster Funeral Held At Manning February 15, 1939

Funeral services for Carl Lemster were held Wednesday afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. Alexander Wimberly, Presbyterian minister, in charge.

Carl Lemster, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lemster, was born April 9, 1870, in Remmels, Holstein, Germany, and was baptized in the Lutheran faith. Five years later in 1875 he came to America with his parents, the family residing near Westside, Iowa. After he grew up he worked as a farm hand in the vicinity of Aspinwall, Manning, and Westside. Wherever he was employed he was well liked as he was a quiet unassuming man and faithful in any work he undertook. When not employed he made his home in Aspinwall. Several years ago he entered an institution in Council Bluffs and later was transferred to Cherokee, where he enjoyed fairly good health.

He became ill on Saturday and died on Monday, February 13. Pneumonia was the direct cause of his death. He reached the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 4 days.

The deceased is survived; by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Joens of Manning, and Mary, Mrs. Louis Schroeder, of Aspinwall.

Interment was made in the Hayes Township Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Kruse, Herman Jahn, Hugo Jahn, William J. Schroeder, Alfred Ewoldt, and Henry Ewoldt.
