A celebration of life for Carla Darby was held December 18, 2005 at Central Phoenix Unity Church. A memorial service will be held in the future in Manning, Iowa.

Carla Ruth Darby, 59 passed away following a brief illness on December 9, 2005.

Carla, daughter of Carl (Kelly) and Luella Musfeldt, was born in Manning, Iowa on December 8, 1946. She spent her younger years in Aspinwall, Iowa and in 1964, she graduated from Manilla High School. After obtaining her B.S. and M.S. from West Virginia University, she pursued a variety of career paths including manager of the Kennedy-Warren apartment building in Washington, DC, Constituent Services Coordinator under former DC Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly, teacher, women's basketball coach, private investigator, blackjack dealer, small business owner, and political activist. Carla traveled extensively throughout the world, including trips to China, Europe, Canada and all 50 states. She sailed the Caribbean with friends as a crew-member. During her spare time, Carla enjoyed spending time with her grandson, reading, playing cards, going to the opera, and art museums. Carla's marriage to Carl Darby ended in divorce.

Carla in preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughters Clarie Darby and Camille Carroll; sons-in-law Chris Bressler and Harper Carroll; grandson Sean Bressler; her sisters: Diane Little, Pat Branning, and Kathy Contine; brother, Keith Musfeldt; and numerous extended family and friends.
