MRS. WILLIAM GRAGE

Nishna Valley - Funeral services were held for Mrs. William Grage from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla on Saturday, December 29, with the Rev. L.W. Nutzmann officiating. Mrs. Grage died December 26 following several years of illness, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 21 days. Mrs. William Joens ac companied the ladies choir as they sang "Asleep in Jesus" and Loren Grage of Jasper, Minnesota. who sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Pallbearers were Robert Waterbury, Merle Waterbury, William Waterbury, Alan Ray, Stanley Ray and Loren Grage. Burial was made in the Nishnabotna Cemetery.

Carolina Margaret Marie Grage, daughter of Claus Henry Grimm and his wife, Anna Schwieso, was born September 5, 1884, in Crawford County and died December 26, 1956, while a patient in St. Joseph's hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to William Grage March 14, 1906, and nine children five sons and four daughters, were born to this union, eight of whom survive. She and her husband were confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Manilla March 23, 1933, by the Rev. F.C. Israel. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid.

Her husband died on April 30, 1950. Her entire life was spent in this community. Since 1956 she made her home with her daughter in Mitchell, South Dakota. In November of 1955 she underwent surgery at St. Anthony's hospital at Carroll from which she never completely recovered. While with her daughter she entered the Mitchell hospital for observation and treatment.

Survivors are four sons: Gilbert of jasper, Minnesota, Wilmer of Oxford Junction, Merlin of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Victor of Jasper, Minnesota; four daughters: Edna (Mrs. Henry Waterbury) of Manilla, Luella (Mrs. Robert Ray) of Mission Hill, South Dakota, Hazel (Mrs. Albert Dowling) of Mitchell, South Dakota, and Helen (Mrs. Beryl Kettle) of Greenwood, Nebraska. Preceding her in death are her husband and one son, Glenn. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Grimm of Manning; four sisters: Emma Auen of Carroll, Bertha Genzen and Loa Wiese, both of Manning and Annie Ewoldt of Manilla, also 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
