Mrs. John F. Jahn died Saturday morning August 31, 1907, aged 74 years, 8 months, 14 days. Catharine Groth was born in Holstein, Germany, December 17, 1832.

In June 1856, she was married to John F. Jahn, and to them were born seven children. In 1873 Mr. Jahn and wife came to America and settled in Hayes Township south of West Side, and lived here until 1903, when they moved to West Side.

A year later occurred the death of Mr. Jahn. Since then Mrs. Jahn has made her home with her children in and near West Side. At the time of her death she was at the home of her son, Paul W. Jahn south of Vail.

Five children are left to mourn the loss of a living mother. They are Paul W. Jahn who lives south of Vail. Herman Jahn and Mrs. Claus Anthony living south of West Side, Mrs. H.C. Martins and Mrs. George Buck of West Side.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in Hayes Township Cemetery, Rev, Freese of Denison officiating.
