FINAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. ANTHONY
1948

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Anthony, widow of Tim Anthony, were held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 2 o'clock at the Zion Lutheran church, with Rev. J. M. Ansorge officiating. The Lutheran church choir sang for services, and burial was in Hayes township cemetery.

Mrs. Anthony's grandchildren were pallbearers: Irwin Thiedeman, Renald and Melvin Hagge, Vernon Anthony, Leonard Schoessler and Joe Shields.

Mrs. Anthony, last of five children and Claus and Anna Jensen Heinrichs, was born April 14, 1861, in Husum, Schleswig Holstein, Germany. She came to Iowa in 1866 with her parents, and settled in Scott county. She moved to Carroll County in 1874, when thirteen. On July 12, 1878, she was married to Tim Anthony in Denison. This was five years before the town of Manning was founded. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony farmed in the vicinity of Manning until 1927, when they moved into town. Mr. Anthony died on March 25, 1934, and Mrs. Anthony passed away Monday morning, Dec. 6, after an extended illness.

She is survived by three children: Mrs. James Mundt (Mary), Manning; Mrs. Louis Thiedeman, Westside; and John Anthony, Manning. Two children preceded her in death, Mrs. Anna Hagge, and a child who died in infancy.

She also leaves ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
